Website, Blog.... Same but different

Image
Hi! I am a special education teacher on leave for nine years (at the time of writing this post) after adopting my foster son. Last year, I started subbing for our local district. One thing I realized is that I lost all the fantastic learning resources that I had bookmarked. I am sad but at the same time excited because this means I can start fresh with fresh stuff. As a sub, I get the pleasure of being in many classrooms and learning about many new resources that didn't exist when I was full time. It also reminded me of all the excellent resources I loved and used in my previous classroom. I came up with the idea of starting a new webpage/blog, so I will begin collecting resources for one day when I return full-time. Until then, I enjoy subbing and meeting many staff members and students across the district. This blog/webpage is just getting started, and it might be super basic at first, but hopefully, it will grow into a valuable tool for myself and anyone else who wishes to use...

International Conference on ADHD

Image
Oh man! I wish I had seen this sooner! If you are free November 13-15th and ADHD has touched your life in some sort of way, you should attend this. If you'd like to check it out, the website is available at  https://www.theadhdconference.org/ .  I will have to pay closer attention to this in the future. The conference is put on by the following organizations. I haven't looked at their pages in detail yet, but I am hopeful they will have some good information and resources. Check it out and let me know what you think. If you join, let me know too! I am super curious, but can't afford anything extra at the moment.  " CHADD  (Children and Adults with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is dedicated to improving the lives of the 17 million children and adults in the United States who live with ADHD every day, and all who support them. Learn more at  chadd.org  or contact us at 301-306-7070 Ext. 109."  Become a member today!  (There is a c...

October Songs

Image
Here are some of the songs I am using for October right now.  I might add a few more Halloween ones closer to the end of the month.  Let me know if you find anything else you really like.   NOTE: 10/10/25 - It has been brought to my attention that some of you can not see the songs.  I am trying to figure out why this is happening, please add a comment if you can not see them and please let me know what web browsing platform you are using. :) Thank you :)  ~Keep learning!  .

Boom Cards

Image
I love Boom Cards and use them frequently when working in different classrooms.   A few days ago, I started experimenting with creating my own using some of the graphics I had made in Canva.  It was relatively easy to get started, and I created a template that I can use for the future. I even listed some of my graphics and a few "decks" of cards in the store.  I even sold some within a few hours of listing them! It would be pretty amazing if I could have a little extra, or at least enough to cover the cost of the premium account. I wish I could have been paid for all the things I have created over the years as a teacher.  Here's something that might pique your interest. I have a referral link that could be a game-changer for you. New users who use this link will receive a 10% discount. It's a win-win situation, and I'm delighted to share this opportunity with you. https://wow.boomlearning.com/redeemReferral/cF6tm6Qi8XDPnr7Gv Check out my store and my own creatio...

October is ADHD Awareness Month

Image
October is ADHD Awareness Month, and I suppose this calls for a post that I will continue to add to as I find relevant ADHD resources. I don't have a ton of time right now to work on this, but as I come across resources throughout the year, I will update this post.  I used to have numerous web tools that I frequently used, but with the advent of smartphone apps, they have all gradually disappeared.    Side Note: This is an important topic to me because I personally am ADHD, my husband is as he says just "ADD" but the way his foot wiggles, I am sure he has some of the H in there too, and our son is also ADHD.  We are a busy family!  Child Mind Institute - School Success Kit for Kids with ADHD   ADDitude Magazine - I LOVE THIS MAGAZINE!!!!  We get the digital and print versions.  My son has been reading it since he was 8, even though he struggles with some of the language, thanks to dyslexia.  He says he likes that this magazine helps him unde...

Phonics Songs

Image
You can never have enough  phonics songs  on standby, and they are my favorite to use during transitions when some kids are done with an activity and others are still finishing up. Plus, some of these are SUPER enjoyable for the kids, and it is fun to hear them sing the songs later in the day. They have no idea they are actually learning more language skills. :)  Here are a few of the favorites (which are also calming), and I will add more as time goes on.
